A Great Lunch at Cheese and Bread

I had been waiting a while for Diane's (formerly South Shore Cafe) new breakfast and lunch place to open, and yesterday finally had a chance to try it. Located in the lovely Queen's Quarter site formerly Reninisce Restaurant, Bread and Cheese only serves breakfast and lunch. My grilled sandwich -- feta, roasted red peppers, and tomatoes on homemade rosemary bread--- was outstanding. Dessert was Cruzan rum coconut flan pie, which was good, but not as memorable as the sandwich. The location is quiet in a beautiful garden, and although the place is small with limited kitchen facilities, for a breakfast/lunch place mid-island, it can't be beat.

How do places like this get business? How are they advertising? I've never heard of them before until now.

I miss Diane, she's such a great lady. And her food is ALWAYS good. Everyone should go check this one out. 🙂

South Shore Café was one of our favorites and we spent many a special occasion there. We really liked Reminisce too! Miss both of them. Have not been up to see Dianne but plan to do so soon.

Word of mouth. Diane has a fair sized following.

I'm on St Croix for business, and have picked up some tourist publications. Cheese N Bread has an ad in the St Croix Explorer.

I find the tourist publications are an excellent source for eateries.

Cheese N Bread is also on Facebook - which is a great place to get St. Croix info.

I try to avoid Facebook, because I can't stand it.

According to their ad, they're at Route 79 at Queens Quarter. No phone number in ad. Open M-F 8:30 -3.

I never heard of a restaurant with no phone number. Weird!
