AT&T east end STX

I received a call today from AT&T in response to my call to them this past Sunday. She said "the engineers are working on it" and the problem will be fixed by Oct 14 (Thursday). She will call back Friday afternoon to see if service has improved.

Unbeknowst to me at the time - my wife called AT&T this morning to tell them we were still having problems and to ask what was being done to rectify it. She was told our case had already been pulled by engineering and the tower is scheduled for repair tomorrow (Weds). She then asked about getting credit for not being able to use our service this past week. The girl gave us the entire month for free...but we need to pay the taxes. (tu)

The service is sort of working if you can keep your call to under ten seconds otherwise it drop. Keep calling to tell them that it still isn't working.

Technically, I should start a new thread with this, but...

Which dealer (on STX) has the largest selection of AT&T compatible phones? I need to replace mine, but I'd really like to put my hands on whatever I decide to buy first.

Thanks in advance!

either radio shack or the AT&T store but if you know what you want go to AT&T online and order it there.

Radio Shack has a good selection. So does AT&T Store. You might want to check a previous thread about the AT&T store.

The former Centenial store in Sion Farm is now an AT&T outlet (Centenial wasbought by AT&T ). They have a decent selection and short lines. Our rep was the best CS experience I've had with AT&T in all the years I've been a customer. Since they're all within a quarter mile of each other why not check them all out? BTW Radio Shack has a very different selection from the other AT&T outlets.

I guess I don't know where the AT&T store is. Is that in Sunny Isle? I plan to buy online, but I want to see and touch the phones first before I make my choice. Thanks!

ATT store is near the movie theater, in the back corner of Sunny Isle by Cruzan Apparel.

Can't miss it. Look for pissed off people exiting a store.

Good one Chefnoah ... That is soooooo funny! I've had that look on my face upon exiting, wasn't funny then, but it is now. Thanks for the laugh 🙂

The problem of ordering on line is that AT&T ships using FedEx. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. One time I had a phone stuck in customs for two weeks. No one could tell me where it was. Finally canceled the order and picked up something locally.

Even if the shipment doesn't get lost you may end up having to going to the FedEx office in Peter's Rest's to pick it up so how much time have you really saved? I would order from AT&T on line only if it was a phone you could not get locally or they had a really special deal because they are dumping inventory.

Getting back to the original topic...

...has anyone noticed an improvement in the service out east? I haven't had the need to use my phone much the past two days. But the times I did my calls went through and were not dropped. I've also noticed since Weds the signal bars on my phone don't dance around from full to nil - like they've done the week prior.

It is working and better. AT%T called back last night to how things were going. I said OK. She said there is still some work to complete and the 3G upgrade will be done in mid December, She recommended that I visit the AT%T store for a SIMS card update, whatever that means,
There is also an upgrade to the Iphone, 4.1 I think, that is supposed to help with signal strength or the accuracy of the signal strength bars.

I called yesterday and got a $20 credit towards my bill.
Told the lady that I didn't think I got my money's worth this month.

I'm still having dropped call issues, but maybe it's my phone? I did find the AT&T store this morning (thanks, guys!) and was able to browse every model I desired, due to the complete lack of customer service! 😀

Try Choice cell phone service. It is 4G and works all over STX. Unlimited calls and LD to the mainland with no contract

Popflops...Do you keep your phone on all the time? If so, turn it off for about 30 seconds and then turn it back on. Several AT&T reps have told me this should be done every few days so the phone can be "updated". My phone is on 24/7. This process seems to clear up issues such as dropped calls, outgoing calls that won't go through, recapturing signal or service (when you have no bars or the AT&T service logo). Other indicators that it's time to restart my phone are getting the alert that I have a new voice mail but my phone didn't ring. Never had to do this when we had Cingular. But it seems to be a must with AT&T.

If the ATT store has the phone you want, why not just go ahead and buy it there? Why buy on line? Aren't they the same price? My iphone was, plus the ATT store here on STX had the model I wanted, but it was wait listed on line.

I did buy on line once before. It was Fed Ex'd, next day, no charge, no delay.

@ specialk - Yes, I do leave mine on 24/7 because it's our only phone. I'll certainly try turning it off periodically. Thanks!

@ Juanita - I will more than likely buy my phone there now that I know what they have. The last phone we ordered online did come free next-day delivery via Fed-X, but they couldn't find our house and we ended up picking it up at Peter's Rest. But, I also promised my husband that I'd wait to make any decision until he gets back in a few days. He seems to think he can get me to take his iphone and he'll get the newer model, but I'm not interested. 🙂

I also find that I need to turn my phone off and on several times a day for it to find the tower when on STX east end. I can have no service and off and on and full bars, look at it several hours later and no service. This only happens in STX not in NY and has been like this for years now with my 1st gen iphone (which was never a great phone when it came to service).

My husband has to, occasionally, actually take the battery out, and put it back in. His is ATT, too.
