I hate to see it close. I imagine we will see more closings in the next year or so. It is the natural evolution of things and the fall out of Hovensa closing and the world economy as a whole. A crucian told me a few months ago "we" are not going anywhere. We weathered Hugo and the Fountain Valley massacre. Our island has passed through many hands but we go on. This time is a small part of our history, people come and go. We will continue the way we always have. Good or bad we go on.

I felt a bit inspired by those words.

It's sad the local people won't/can't support the local businesses.

islandtime, no wonder you were asking what store. thanks for the chuckle.

stxoldie, most locals will not spend that much money on clothes-they go to rainbow and those type of stores.

It is always sad when a business closes. I heard Louie Vuitton is opening. Anybody heard about that?

Must be STT. The business that is the subject of this thread is on STX.

The group that has the Stanford holdings is trying to "upscale" Christiansted & is trying to get Louie Vuitton into the area where Tessoro used to be.

Wow. That would be quite the feat, indeed. Sorry I jumped to conclusions. I never would have guessed ...

I am pretty sure the source specified STX. There's already a LVuitton on STT at the Yacht Haven. My source works downtown. She said things are happening down there but she was vague about it.

That's what I'm hearing too. I know the EDC company that bought most of the Stanford properties (about 70 of them). There are, if we are to believe the mill, 'exciting' things happening under the radar.
