Real Truth needed about sea grass problem

I came across this post on a vacation board (under the St Croix forum) and thought I'd take it over here to the people who actually live on island. Can you tell me how true this is? :

"Problems with seaweed on our beaches!!! After baking in the hot sun all day, stench is horrible!!! Beware of beachside home and room rentals, don't know when this "tide" will change"

Are you having this severe of a problem with sea grass or sea weed? Or could this person be just trying to 'troll' over on the other board...?

Thanks in advance,
Paula

The last two storms, which for the most past passed us by, have deposited quite a bit of seagrass. The resorts, Divi, Carambola, the Buccaneer, will have taken it away. Other beaches, like Cane Bay, residents and business owners have raked it up into piles and will probably be hauling it away today. I spent the day at Cane Bay yesterday and yes, there was still some grass. But it was above the water mark, in piles, and had no odor. On more out-of-the-way beaches, I'm sure you will still find lots of grass.

Hope this helps.

Yep, its storm related, never noticed a smell, and there was a huge pile of it at rainbow last weekend.

It’s not as bad as they’re making it out to be. It smells a bit pungent once in a while but that’s a one- off thing

On some of the travel boards, you can hear about government officials wanting to close down beaches because of the "danger". This was on St Maarten, but of course, people think we are all one happy island!;)

Was on Sapphire the other day [Thursday], and it was disgusting. Seaweed all over the beach, and stinky stinky stinky.
