I think I have bronchitis . . . don't know but I'm SICK and it won't go away so I'm considering going to see a doctor. Any recommendations for a doctor on STX?

I think I have bronchitis . . . don't know but I'm SICK and it won't go away so I'm considering going to see a doctor. Any recommendations for a doctor on STX?

good afternoon

had a bad bout of bronchitis last year that held on for a couple months.
though i do not frequent the physicians, i went to traditional dr when my fever was high for 2 consecutive days as i thought i might have pneumonia as well.
not the case
so i got the medication the dr. prescribed and still had terrible congestion and cough, although i did feel a tiny bit better.

then i got frustrated and did some research and found that pau de' arco was a good help to bronchitis. it is the bark from a tree.
i got some. capsule form of ground bark.

sidenote: if you are vegetarian, be sure to read the labels as some brands of herb use gelatin caps.
i started taking four caps, three times a day, supplementing it with pau de' arco tea by alvita.

sidenote # 2: this is an awfully bitter tea by itself so i mixed a teabag of pau de' arco with one bag of celestial seasonings echinacea complete care. this cut down on the bitterness and also gave me a good boost from the echinacea. i also added honey, and ate honey by the spoonful during this time.

after 15 hours of this treatment, the phlegm and so on started coming up and out when i would cough.
three days after, i began feeling myself, although sounding like a frog for a few months.

another thing i did was to mix echinacea, mint, spearmint, bay leaves, eucalyptus (in dried herb form) with several drops of mint essential oil in a gallon pot, and then i brought it to a boil. then i turned the burner to simmer, positioned myself over the pot and covered my head area and the pot with cheesecloth. i inhaled the medication (herbs) for 15 minute periods three times a day. this also helped my breathing, as the coughing was trying to do me in.

not saying not to go to the dr.
this is what i did in conjunction with western medicine.

also:

avoid all dairy products if you partake during an bronchial illness of any kind.
dairy products cause a build up of phlegm in our bodies. and phlegm is what we are trying to get rid of.

drink fresh squeezed juice and make homemade soups during this time...preferably homemade vegetable soup (do not cook the vegetables til they are deaded....you get the best nutrients if your veggies are raw or al dente....so just do not cook them for hours....) add plenty fresh herbs.

ital stew is excellent if you know how to cook it.

you are right there with all the herbs and healing at your fingertips.....

make a juice from kholrahbi (cut it up, boil it, strain it, cool it, and add enough water to make a gallon) and drink a glass every day and it will clean u out....very bitter...this is like making aloe juice....same process.

pick some lime leaves off the tree and make a bush tea.

pick some mint and make some hot tea and squeeze some lime in it....no need for sugar

and lots and lots of water will aid in flushing your system from an illness.

someone on the board told me of a holistic spa and restaurant in downtown c/sted..i checked for the site and it seems irie.

i think i saw they had a sauna treatment with eucalyptus....$30??? that would be beneficial if you can afford to do that as well.

hope you feel better soon

Don't wait, see a Dr now.

Michelle the PA for Dr Prassad is also very good if Prassad is busy or out of the office.

They take walk ins but if you make an appointment there is no wait. 778-7788

Ric goes to Lisa McMahon and likes her a lot. I haven't been to a doctor on-island since Dr. Braslow left -- I need to stop mourning and get in.

Ususlly everyone shows up very early at Prassad's; do that and take a book or try going later in the morning--might not be as crowded.

Prassad without a appointment well sucks. Get there when they first open and you'll be lucky to have a 3 hour wait. Doesn't matter if you look or sound at deaths door. Your first time you cannot get an appointment. After that you should be able to call and usually get an appointment for the next day. Easier to get a appoint for his nurse practioner, but why pay the same money to see a nurse??? I too miss Braswell, but only because he was fast. Love Dr Murphy, a real treat to have a doctor who's good on island but getting into him your first time is like getting into see the dentist the first time, it may take a month or two or lots of begging. Lots of people go to Bishop as well, hes in the same complex as Prassad and Murphy, I havent tried him but the experience sounds the same.

I went to Prasad's office this morning and saw a PA. It was a great experience and I would definitely go back again. From signing in, to filling out paperwork, seeing the PA and paying it took me less than an hour and I didn't have an appointment. They even called my prescription in directly to the pharmacy so that it was waiting for me when I got there. Overall great experience and I'm glad I went . . . now let's just hope the prescriptions work 🙂
