The card is $30. You need to get a stool test first to test for parasites. At a private lab it is a $10 charge. At the hospital I think it's $17. You can do the private lab and go to the community health center in the hospital between 1 and 2:45 PM and get it the same day. Just get to the lab early. If you go the the community center to do the lab work, it could take 3 days. Make sure you go with ID and social security card!

I did for my first one! If you can do it on demand, go for it. The lab does provide them though. At least the one I send my tenants to. Cranston-Dottin in the Medical Arts Complex in STT. They even give me a stash since I send all my people there!

on STX, there is a lab in Beeston Hill......... you can normally just walk in... they will give you the container.... you take it home.... and bring it back once the task is complete. Once you get the results, you take it to the Health Dept in the Old Hospital pink building where the clinic is now in Richmond. They stop processing at 11am or something like that so if you can call first it could save you some headaches. However, they will give you the card same day (photo and all).

Good Luck.

$20 dollars at the lab in Sunny Isle, usually take 2 day..you might get lucky and get it sooner. Get the results then take them to Charles Harwood, take the paper work to them, they give you a slip, send you to the cashier...pay $30 dollars...take the receipt back to them and get your card. Use a pill bottle and you will be fine.

Hello,

Here is info on how to get your health card in 2018...at least how I did it this November.
This can all be done in one day. The lab testing is almost instant turn around if you’re lucky and same with the issuing of the health card.

First you go to the beeston hill business complex near Christiansted. You drive in and go to the back left building where there is a sign labeled “laboratory” on the building. You go in and speak with this super nice woman and ask for a specimen cup. Be sure to use your manners and say please when you ask for one. Then you take that specimen cup home or wherever you fancy to do the deed and get a little scoop of brown to put in it for testing. Take specimen cup back to the laboratory and they charge you $30 for the test. If your stool test comes back negative of any parasites then you are good to go.

From there you head just a couple or few miles closer to Christiansted and go to Charles Harwood memorial hospital. It’s a pink building with a circle drive with a bunch of ambulances parked in the lot. You go in the door there and go in the right door. Tell them you are there for a health card then they make you go back out and wait in the lobby area. Eventually someone will come to get you and take you back to take your picture and issue your card. You’ll need a drivers license for all of this process. I would recommend taking cash with you as well if card machines are down. It cost $30 to get your health card at the hospital.

Altogether you pay $60 total ($30 for lab testing and $30 for the card) in November 2018. Your card expires after 1 year. Good luck! I posted this so you don’t have to drive all around like I did to get this done. Follow these steps and it will be an easy process. Also, I believe both places close at like 3pm or don’t issue health cards after that time. So be sure to get up good and early to start the process.

@iron-deh-ritter: You know you are responding to a 13 year old thread, don't you? ?

The procedure was changed after the 2017 storms on St Thomas, I don't know about St Croix.

There was a long a detailed update dated November 2018 just above so I’m not sure it’s out of date.

STX- go to a lab that does the test, get the kit.  Go home, get the sample, take back to the lab, results within a few hours if not sooner depending on how busy.  Take ID, test results to temporary DOH building and get your card.  About 20 minutes inside the building.
