How many times have we seen this? In the papers today. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10154073298090377&set=a.10150177504090377.409782.796900376&type=1&theater

Well, most are mentally and brain handicapped, plus deaf, dumb, & blind... How convenient is it that they do not list the drivers' names... Could it be that the senators can't spell their names?

Seriously? You're surprised?
Don't you already know our illustrious (in their own minds) Senators believe they are ENTITLED and above everyone else and our laws?

Their names should be made public and they should be made to pay whatever fees or fines anyone else caught doing this BS would have to. Will they? Doubt it!

The government needs to triple the police force and eliminate redundant agencies. There are not enough police persons to ticket all the infractions I see every day, so they need more boots on the ground enforcing the laws.

Crime should be #1 priority for next governor.

Are most politicians who run for office those who were born on the islands or have those who have moved and made the VI their permanent residence also run? Just curious. One of the reasons I plan to move from Ohio is to escape hometown politics.

Why would they not follow the governor's example? DeJongh used our road monies to upgrade his personal home which the US Inspector General said was "improper". The territory is lawless starting with the top down. Two illegal Parker's don't trump a half a million of theft of public monies, Alana. Public corruption is public corruption. No excuses. Don't expect tickets either.

Agree with last statement but don't think we need to triple the police force, just enforce the laws we have and prevent the judges from letting the bad guys go after a day in jail and posting $100 bail..... Well that will never happen. If there is no punishment, arresting people won't help.

Didn't Turnbull misuse road funds too or is that just a rumor? Maybe not it is standard and accepted practice? It's a shame our roads are in such bad shape while our leadership thumbs it collective nose at the masses.

I meant official, singular, Alana. Let me clear your confusion. You see we have an attorney general that is hired by Governor John deJongh who is responsible for prosecuting cases. And we have a chief of police hired by the same Governor John Percy deJongh Jr. Who is responsible ultimately for traffic and parking tickets.

Now that you know exactly which singular governmental official is responsible for this parking outrage, are you still outraged? Or is your refusal to name names an admission that your outrage is correctly but uncomfortably placed? I suggest you call the office if the governor and demand from your "government official" that he have his chief if police release the names and issue tickets.

(Alana has since removed her post where she back pedaled saying that she was not referring to a single official, but rather officials.)

Not to defend the action, but they were driven by drivers. Senators do not drive legislature cars anymore as of this legislature. Find it strange they could not find the driver in over an hour.

So we PAY someone to drive their useless asses around? Why do they even have cars?

1. They are not totally useless; they have voted up every major piece of deJongh legislation, including the 4th Hovensa deal, the Diageo Agreement, the Cruzan Rum Agreement, the Half Billion lump sum loan in the months before the election, just to name a few.
So if you like the governor's legislation, they are not useless; the are useful to deJongh.
2. If those cars belong to senators on St. Croix, I can see why they have drivers because they cannot very well park them at the STT airport.
If those cars belong to Sanes and Fritz-Buckley, do you still want tickets? Do you still want their names published? Just asking.
3. Most government officials have cars, including EVERY single commissioner and most deputy deputy commissioners appointed by DeJongh and every director of bureaus, divisions, and agencies. The number exceeds 200. Should their cars get pulled too? T
4. The governor and his wife each have a tax payer vehicle with security guard and driver. Should they start driving their own cars too?
And if security is your response, shouldn't senators have security too?
5. The governor's car was pulled over for running a red light. A rookie unwittingly pulled the vehicle over. He has since been reassigned from his home island if STT to STJ. (Which may explain the reluctance of police here to ticket certain senators)
6. John Greaux, the spokesperson for government house crashed his government issued car at 4 am recently after being seen publicly inebriated. No ticket was issued. Your taxes paid for the loss of the vehicle.
7. DeJongh's son recently had a single car accident. No ticket no sobriety test. I guess membership has privileges.

I didn't removeany post nor did I back peddle. I don't know what your issue may be but you are barking up the wrong tree by singling me out for a rant.

No one needed to find the drivers - they were in the restaurant and available - the car was 'blocked in' but is an employee of the Marina who would not be moving it until after 5pm - the Daily News article infers that the parked car was inconvenienced - not true at all. Certainly I am not defending the drivers at all but the article conveys that there was a problem with the blocked in car that didn't occur.

I am reading posts about senators' cars posted by bloggers who only seem to be concernd with their lavish lifestyle and law breaking and not that of the administration.
What about you? Any positive comments about senators? Like how they give our wonderful governor all of his major requests? Or that most of their cars are lawfully parked most of the time?
Is this a negative or positive post? Did I start it? Why didn't you ask the person who posted it about going negative? Why is it only negative when I point out similarities to you know who? Why aren't you camping?

My bad. I must have confused it with your April 14 submission on the Exxon post about government officials where you said you didn't want to name names. Sorry.

Miss Justice....
I am curious. Which of our politicians do you feel are honest? Please tell me if there is anyone senator or public official that I can believe is truly working for the good of Virgin Islands citizens? Surely there must be someone good in our government?

I am well aware it is not directed at me, but Sanes from STX is not that bad... IMHO...

As always - but who pays attention to facts when it's so much easier and uses less brainpower to latch onto one newspaper article or the words of one person and spread that around as Gospel.

Probably because those facts were not reported in the story.

Therefore, it would be impossible to know the facts unless one knew someone involved.

Also, one one would think, or hope, that the news media would get the facts before reporting a story.

Laws can't be enforced if you don't have enough boots on the ground to enforce them. Just the many traffic violations everyday would require the govt allowing citizen arrests to put the populace on notice.

Most of the major cities in the States who reduced crime increased the size of the force. When they had more police, they increased enforcement.
